Where to Stay in Mammoth

The Village Lodge

Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546

Our favorite place to stay at Mammoth when we go in the winter season is the Village Lodge, located right in the heart of the Village.Β Β The Village Lodge is the perfect combination of rustic charm and convenience. It’s Mammoth’s most popular all-access hotel because of its direct gondola access to the slopes and is steps from the Village shopping and dining.Β

The Village Lodge has a variety of family friendly accommodations to choose from, studios and one-,two- and three- bedroom condos.Β Β I love how each unit has a kitchen which is equipped with a refrigerator, oven, stovetop and microwave, perfect for couples and families.Β Β We usually love bringing groceries and cooking our own meals to save some money and also, since the kids can be picky eaters.

Note: Most people do their grocery shopping at the Vons 5 minutes away or there is also the Busy Beez’ General Store and Market located in the Village that offers a smaller selection.

To ease your muscles after a day on the slopes, the Village Lodge does also have multiple outdoor hot tubs and a heated pool.Β Β All units are individually owned so they do vary in its style and decor.Β Β They all have a gas fireplace in the living rooms and every unit has its own balcony.Β Β

The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth
50 Hillside Drive, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546

Another option for a family friendly accommodation that offers comfort and convenience would be the Westin Monache Resort.Β Β The Westin Monache Resort also offers quick access to the Village gondola and the Village’s restaurants and shops.Β

Note: The Westin is set on a bit of a hill so there is a flight of steps that can be tiring after a long day out in the snow. If you have a stroller or you’re carrying a lot of gear, this might be a little less convenient of an option.

The Westin Monache Resort offers family friendly accommodations with Studios as well as one- and two-bedrooms suites.Β Β Depending on the room type, the kitchen or kitchenette and its amenities may not be as good as that at the Village Lodge but still offers the essentials you would need to cook easy meals and reheat any food.Β

Both the Village Lodge and the Westin Monache Resort offer electric car charging stations, if you are in need of EV charging.Β Β Both accommodations are very family friendly and similar in its convenience to the Village and gondola.Β Β You really can’t go wrong with either.Β Β Since I have young children, I like to be situated somewhere I can easily go for a walk around shops and entertainment and both places offer that and the comfort of a home.Β Β
