The Best Restaurants in Jackson Hole for Families: What We Actually Ate

The best restaurants in Jackson Hole for families β€” from a family who just ate their way through the town. Honest reviews of where we actually went, what we ordered, what the kids loved, and what to skip. No sponsored opinions.
A Note on Eating in Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole is an expensive place to eat. This is not a surprise given the location and the clientele, but it’s worth setting expectations clearly before you arrive. A family of four eating out for every meal will spend significantly more than you’d expect even at mid-range restaurants. We partially offset this by staying at Hotel Terra in Teton Village, which had a full kitchen, and cooking several lunches and dinners ourselves. If your accommodation has a kitchen, use it. There is an Albertsons in Jackson plus Whole Foods, Target, and Smith’s nearby β€” stocking up at the start of the trip makes a real difference.
That said, eating out in Jackson Hole is also genuinely worth it. The quality of ingredients β€” locally raised beef, local trout, bison, elk β€” is exceptional, and several of the restaurants we visited were among the best meals we’ve had on any family trip. The key is knowing where to go.

On our April trip, we did both. Four nights atΒ Hotel TerraΒ in Teton Village, followed by one night atΒ The CloudveilΒ in downtown Jackson. We experienced each property through the lens of traveling with our two young daughters, and the differences were significant enough that I think every family planning a Jackson Hole trip should read this before they book.

We went almost every day. Cowboy Coffee Co. β€” multiple locations across Jackson Hole, open from 6am, house roasted beans and lattes worth building a morning around.

COWBOY COFFEE CO. β€” Daily Ritual

Multiple locations: Town Square (125 N. Cache St.), near Whole Foods (1007 S. HWY 89), and Teton VillageWebsite:Β cowboycoffee.com

Start here. Literally. Every morning.
They offer a wide variety of coffee drinks, smoothies, house-baked pastries, breakfast sandwiches, fresh cinnamon rolls, croissants, paninis, salads, soup, and their signature Buffalo Chili.
I went nearly every single day of our trip and it became the ritual I looked forward to most each morning. The lattes are excellent. The pastries are freshly baked. The atmosphere is warm, Western, and completely unpretentious. With three Jackson Hole locations β€” including one right on Town Square and one in Teton Village directly across from the ticketing office β€” there is always one nearby regardless of where you’re based.
Family note: Kids love the smoothies and the cinnamon rolls. The Town Square location has seating and the energy of the square right outside β€” a great way to start an exploring day.
Still West Brewery and Grill in Jackson Hole β€” warm ambiance, Snow King Mountain views right outside the window, and food that made us want to come back before we had even finished the bill.

STILL WEST BREWERY & GRILL β€” First Night, Great Call

45 East Snow King Ave, Jackson, WYΒ Website:Β stillwestbreweryandgrill.comΒ Hours:Β Open daily 11am–10pm

This was our very first meal in Jackson Hole and it set an excellent tone for the entire trip. StillWest Brewery & Grill is located at the base of Snow King Mountain with open-air, mountain-side dining on their patio, a brewhouse-facing bar.
We arrived after a long travel day and needed something casual, easy, and good. StillWest delivered on all three. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was genuinely excellent β€” moist, flavorful chicken with real heat that didn’t feel gimmicky. The wings were a great starter. The craft beer selection is solid and the cocktails are well-made.
The menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, and standouts like the bison sausage flatbread, with seasonal menu changes keeping things fresh and also offers a kid’s menu.

Best for: Casual first night dinner, lunch, or après ski. Relaxed vibe, great for families.

Pro tip: Right across the street from Snow King Resort and Phil Baux Park playground β€” easy to combine both in one stop.

JACKSON DRUG β€” Lunch on the Town Square

15 E. Deloney Ave, Jackson, WYΒ Hours:Β Open daily 11am–8:30pm

Jackson Drug and Original Soda Fountain is a beloved Jackson Hole institution dating back to 1919 that reopened in 2018 when the founder’s family brought it back to life. The beef for their burgers is sourced from happy cattle born and raised on the Gill family’s Jackson Hole Hereford Ranch, guaranteed free of growth hormones and antibiotics.
We stumbled in for lunch on our downtown day and it became one of our favorite meals of the trip. My husband and I shared the Caliente Cowboy Melt and the Green Goddess Bowl β€” both were outstanding. The Caliente Cowboy Melt in particular was bold and flavorful without being overwhelming.
The kids menu covers all the classics: cheeseburger, hamburger, hot dog, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, and mac and cheese, all served with a choice of fries or apple slices. They even offer kids-sized milkshakes.

Best for:Β Family lunch in downtown Jackson. Casual, historic, kid-friendly, and delicious.

Location note: Just a few minutes walk from The Cloudveil β€” ideal for guests staying downtown.
SILVER DOLLAR BAR & GRILL β€” Lunch With Our Safari Guide

Inside The Wort Hotel, 50 N. Glenwood St, Jackson, WYΒ Website:Β worthotel.com/silver-dollar-barΒ Hours:Β Open daily, food served 11am–10pm

We did not find this restaurant on our own. Our wildlife safari guide Barry brought us here for lunch and it was one of the most genuinely surprising meals of the entire trip.
The Silver Dollar Bar & Grill has been a cornerstone of the Jackson Hole community since 1950, located inside the historic Wort Hotel just steps from Town Square, offering Western-inspired cuisine and live music four nights a week. The bar’s name comes from its famous serpentine bar inlaid with 2,032 uncirculated 1921 silver dollars from the Denver mint.
The chili is exceptional β€” rich, deeply flavored, and warming after a morning in the field. The French dip was equally good. A kids menu is also available. The atmosphere is warm, historic, and completely genuine β€” not a tourist fabrication of a Western saloon but the real thing, with decades of Jackson Hole history on its walls.
Signature items include burgers, elk gyros, and their famous corn chowder. The corn chowder was featured in Bon AppΓ©tit magazine and is worth ordering.
Location note: Just a few minutes walk from The Cloudveil β€” ideal for guests staying downtown.

Note: The lunch included in our wildlife safari tour covered food but not alcohol.

CafΓ© Genevieve in downtown Jackson Hole β€” a local favorite housed in a historic log cabin just off Town Square. One of the most charming dining spots in the valley with a menu built around elevated Southern comfort food.

CAFE GENEVIEVE β€” Breakfast in a Historic Log Cabin

135 E. Broadway, Jackson, WYΒ Website:Β genevievejh.comΒ Hours:Β Open daily 8am–2pm

One of the most charming breakfast and brunch spots in all of Jackson Hole. Located in a historic log cabin on the town square, Cafe Genevieve serves home-cooked classics for brunch daily, with outdoor dining available in season under the shade of 110-year-old cottonwood trees. Serving seasonal and local dishes since 2010, the menu leans Southern-inspired with dishes like Cajun Eggs Benedict, fried chicken and waffles, and their famous Pig Candy β€” slow-baked applewood-smoked bacon coated in sugars and spices. Kids love the s’mores French toast, which reviewers consistently describe as enormous β€” big enough for the whole table to share.
The outdoor patio under the cottonwood trees is the move on a nice day. Reservations are recommended, especially on beautiful weather days when the place fills up fast.

Best for:Β A relaxed, memorable breakfast before a day in the park. Southern comfort food with a Wyoming twist. Great for families β€” the atmosphere is warm and unhurried.

Pro tip: Next door to Persephone Bakery β€” grab dessert after breakfast and make a morning of it.

LIBERTY BURGER β€” Casual Family Lunch Near Town Square

160 N. Cache St, Jackson, WYΒ Website:Β bcrg.coΒ Hours:Β Open daily 11:30am–10pm

The go-to for a casual, high-quality family lunch near Town Square. Liberty Burger is a family-owned concept committed to quality sourcing, using the freshest product from responsible sources with never-frozen chuck, brisket, and tenderloin.
The restaurant offers a second-floor dining experience with views of the street below β€” great for kids who like people-watching while they eat. The bison burger, sweet potato fries, and hand-cut onion rings with chipotle ketchup are standout items. The menu includes a generous kids menu and array of delicious sauces.
One of the more budget-friendly options in an otherwise expensive dining town β€” and the quality more than holds up.

Best for:Β Easy, crowd-pleasing family lunch. Kids who are picky eaters will find something they love. Adults who want a great burger without a steakhouse price tag.

Order:Β The sweet potato fries are universally praised. Order them regardless of what burger you get.

NORA'S FISH CREEK INN β€” The Local Breakfast Institution

5600 W. HWY 22, Wilson, WY (approx. 20 minutes from Jackson)Β Website:Β norasfishcreekinn.comΒ Hours:Β Open daily 6:30am–2pm for breakfast and lunch; dinner service 5pm–9pm

We did not make it to Nora’s on this trip β€” it was on our list and we simply ran out of days. But it came recommended by so many locals that I would be doing you a disservice not to include it.
Nora’s Fish Creek Inn opened its doors in 1982 and was an instant favorite among locals and visitors. It has been voted the Best Breakfast in the Best of JH for several years, received a James Beard Award in 2012, and was also featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri in 2014.
Housed in a rustic log cabin dating back to the late 1930s β€” originally serving as a post office and general store β€” Nora’s represents the very essence of hearty, homestyle cooking in a warm, unpretentious atmosphere.
The famous Huevos Rancheros and banana bread French toast are the dishes everyone talks about. Located in Wilson, Wyoming, about 20 minutes from Jackson β€” this is where locals actually eat breakfast, not where tourists go. Expect a wait. Consider it part of the experience.

Best for:Β A genuine Wyoming breakfast experience away from the tourist center. Worth the drive.

Family note: Classic breakfast comfort food β€” great for kids who aren’t adventurous eaters.

MILLION DOLLAR COWBOY STEAKHOUSE β€” Special Night Out

25 N. Cache St, Jackson, WY (downstairs from the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar)Β Website:milliondollarcowboystakhouse.comΒ Hours:Β Open nightly from 5pm

This was our special dinner night in downtown Jackson and it delivered. The Million Dollar Cowboy Steakhouse is located downstairs from the iconic Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and features traditional steakhouse fare with choice cuts of meats, seafood, and an extensive cocktail and wine list. All ages are welcome.

Important navigation note:Β The entrance is the same as the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar β€” but take an immediate right down the stairs to reach the restaurant. If you walk straight ahead into the bar, you’ve gone too far.

We ordered the Winter Salad, Cast Iron Pan Fried Trout, and a 17oz Cast Iron Ribeye to share. Everything was prepared with genuine care β€” the trout was beautifully cooked and the ribeye was exceptional. If you’re feeling adventurous, the menu also features elk tenderloin and bison flank steak. These are not tourist gimmicks β€” they are genuinely well-prepared cuts of local game meat and worth ordering if you’ve never tried either.

Best for:Β A special dinner in downtown Jackson. Make a reservation β€” it fills up, especially on weekends.

Pro tip: After dinner, pop upstairs into the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for a look β€” the famous saddle barstools are worth seeing. Note the bar is 21+ only so plan accordingly if you want to explore.

GUN BARREL STEAK & GAME HOUSE β€” Wyoming Wild Game at Its Best

862 W. Broadway Ave, Jackson, WYΒ Website:Β gunbarrel.comΒ Hours:Β Open nightly 5pm–9pm

A Jackson Hole institution since 1993 for anyone who wants to try genuine Wyoming wild game in a classic Western setting. The Gun Barrel is locally owned and operated, serving Jackson Hole’s finest steaks and game dishes cooked over an open river-rock mesquite grill in a rustic hunting lodge atmosphere, located about one mile from Jackson Town Square.
Standout dishes include the bison prime rib, elk tenderloin, and mixed game grill. The 21-day aged beef is excellent for anyone who prefers a classic steakhouse cut. The cozy Western-style decor and fantastic service make it a genuinely memorable dining experience β€” taxidermy, fireside atmosphere, and a menu that takes wild game seriously.
All ages are welcome and the menu offers enough variety that both adventurous and traditional eaters will find something they love. For families with older kids who are curious about bison or elk, this is the place to try them properly prepared.

Best for:Β A Western dining experience with genuine game meat. A step down in price from the Cowboy Steakhouse but equally focused on quality local ingredients.

Order:Β The bison prime rib is consistently praised as the standout dish. Arrive early β€” lines form before opening during peak season.

CORBET'S CABIN β€” Waffles at 10,450 Feet

Summit of Rendezvous Mountain, accessed via the Jackson Hole Aerial TramΒ Hours:Β Waffles served until 2:30pm

Not a restaurant in the traditional sense, but an experience that belongs on any Jackson Hole family food list. Corbet’s Cabin stocks an assortment of beverages, snacks, and gear, including its famous Top of the World Waffles β€” made to order with toppings like brown sugar butter, Nutella, peanut butter, and bacon. We went twice. Both times the waffles were crispy on the edges, soft and airy in the middle, and absolutely worth the tram ride up. The experience of eating a waffle at the summit, surrounded by 360-degree mountain views, is genuinely one of those travel memories that stays with you.

Access:Β Via the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram, which costs $55 per person for sightseeing. Children 4 and under ride free with a lift ticket. If you already have a regular lift ticket, tram access is included.

Timing:Β Last waffle is served at 2:30pm. Plan your tram visit for midday or earlier. Dress warmly β€” it is cold at the summit regardless of how warm it is in the valley.

Practical Money-Saving Tips for Eating in Jackson Hole

Cook some meals.Β If your accommodation has a kitchen, use it. Albertsons, Whole Foods, Target, and Smith’s are all within easy driving distance of downtown Jackson. Cooking dinner two or three nights saves enough money to justify a nicer restaurant on the others.

Happy Hour at The Cloudveil Bistro.Β If you’re staying at The Cloudveil or just in downtown Jackson in the late afternoon, the Bistro runs daily happy hour from 3pm to 5pm with all drinks half off.Β

Grocery store snacks for the park.Β Grand Teton National Park visits are long days. Pack snacks, drinks, and an easy lunch from the grocery store rather than relying on park-adjacent restaurants where prices are high and options limited.

Eating in Jackson Hole with kids is genuinely great if you know where to go. The local food culture is strong, the ingredients are exceptional, and the best places manage to be simultaneously excellent and welcoming to families.

Start every morning at Cowboy Coffee. Get breakfast at Cafe Genevieve when you want something special. Grab lunch at Jackson Drug or Liberty Burger when you’re downtown. Do the Silver Dollar at least once. Splurge on one dinner at the Cowboy Steakhouse or Gun Barrel. And make the tram ride to Corbet’s Cabin for the waffles β€” it is not optional.
