St. Lucia Family Friendly Excursions
Booking a private catamaran half day or full day trip is perfect for large families and groups. We had so much space and time to just relax with the kids.
We booked the private catamaran through our resort, Windjammer Landing’s excursions desk for a half day.We were picked up at the dock by the Windjammer Landing resort and sailed South to Marigot Bay. On the way there we were also able to pass by the Tunnel of Love, known for locals to frequent the location to jump off the tunnel if given a small donation.
Since we were on a catamaran and on a half day tour, we didn’t have time to go too far. We did only one stop at Anse Cochon Beach for some beach time. We didn’t have any wildlife sightings but really enjoyed just relaxing on the nets.
The catamaran and sailing around Marigot Bay made for great family photo opportunities. Anse Cochon Beach was a relaxing stop during the catamaran tour for beach time and very family-friendly.
Iconic St. Lucia views of the Tunnel of Love, Marigot Bay and my favorite, the Bat Cave.
- The first landmark we visited was the Tunnel of Love. Since we were in a smaller vessel, we were able to go through the tunnel which was pretty neat.
- Next, we sailed to the Bat Cave, located in Soufriere. I loved this, it was so unique and the captain got us as close as he could so we could actually hear and see all the bats that were inside the cave! You would never expect to see so many bats in such a narrow crack in the cliffs. Apparently in the evening there are a ton of bats flying around the area. Definitely request a visit here if you are on a boat tour.
- We then visited Marigot Bay and circled around taking in the quiet scenic landscape of swaying palm trees, anchored boats and peaceful beaches. There wasn’t too much going on around there but it was nice to pass through and see the sights from the water.
- Next, we sailed to Soufriere. It was here that we docked and were taken by van for 5 minutes to see the Toraille Waterfall. There was a small entrance fee for the waterfall, $2 for each person over three years old. The waterfall was easy to access and very kid-friendly. Since it is a small area, try to go early in the morning to avoid the crowds as it does get busy quickly.
- After our little adventure in Soufriere, we were dropped off at Sugar Beach resort’s beachfront for some beach time. Sugar Beach is a public beach perfectly situated between the two pitons. The water was calm and there was an area for those to snorkel. It was nice to get the opportunity to hang out and relax at Sugar Beach, especially since we weren’t hotel guests. Getting there by boat seemed easier than driving to get there since driving in St. Lucia can get a bit tiring with the traffic and bumpy roads (I get car sick so I wanted to avoid this as much as possible).
- After our beach time, we got back on the boat and sped all the way back to our resort in Castries, The Windjammer Landing, listening to music and drinking local Piton Beer.
We docked in Soufriere and were immediately taken into a van to visit the Toraille Waterfall. It was a quick drive there and a very short walk to the actual waterfall (no hiking required).
Seeing the Pitons in St. Lucia is a must. The Pitons is easily the most famous landmark in St. Lucia. If you want a less crowded family friendly beach, be sure to stay at or try Sugar Beach.
Cheers to the best family excursions in St. Lucia! There was no shortage of Pitons, sun, tan lines, smiles and St. Lucia views. Windjammer Landing views from the ocean on our way back from our family day trip were so beautiful with its’ hilltop accommodations.
