Best Places to Eat in Telluride: A Food Lover’s Guide
The National – Elevated Dining
For an unforgettable dining experience, The National is a must-visit. Known for its innovative American cuisine, this spot is perfect for a special night out. The menu changes seasonally, featuring locally sourced ingredients and expertly crafted dishes. Be sure to book a reservation in advance!
Must-Try: House-made pasta, dry-aged steak, and their signature cocktails.
The Grand is just a short walk from Telluride Station and worth making reservations to secure a table.
The Kale Caesar and Whole Roasted Branzino were our favorites from The Grand, we would come back just for the same dishes. I tried the Zero Proof Pineapple Ginger Sparkler but added some Tito’s to it and it was perfect.

Must-Try: Wagyu burger, seared scallops, and the chef’s special tasting menu.
The Tonkotsu Ramen from Kazahana was not only a hit with the kids, but we also enjoyed whatever they didn’t finish! The thin noodles, broth and chashu were delicious, we were genuinely surprised with the quality of the ramen.
Kazahana – Japanese Cuisine in the Mountains
For something different, Kazahana offers incredible Japanese cuisine, including sushi and sashimi. Perfect for those craving fresh seafood and authentic flavors, this spot brings an unexpected yet delightful dining option to Telluride.
Must-Try: Tonkotsu Ramen, fresh nigiri, and miso black cod.
The Butcher & the Baker serves up some delicious pastries and sandwiches with kids options as well. There was so much I wanted to try and not enough time as we went for lunch the day we went home. From top left clockwise, the kid’s turkey sandwich with fries, tuna sandwich with fries and kid’s chicken tenders with house-made chip.
Butcher & The Baker – A Cozy Café with Artisanal Treats
For a more casual and cozy option, Butcher & The Baker is a local favorite. This bakery and café is perfect for breakfast or a light lunch, offering fresh-baked goods, sandwiches, and excellent coffee.
Must-Try: Avocado toast, fresh pastries, house-made chips or fries and their famous cinnamon rolls.
Tomboy Tavern’s meatloaf was a warm hug to my stomach, so comforting, and the perfect dish after a long, cold day on the slopes.
Tomboy Tavern – Après-Ski Perfection
Located in Mountain Village, Tomboy Tavern is a go-to spot for a relaxed après-ski experience. With its cozy atmosphere and hearty pub fare, it’s the ideal place to warm up after a day on the slopes.
Must-Try: Meatloaf, their burgers and local craft beers.
Black Iron at The Madeline Hotel – Cozy Unpretentious Dining
For those staying in Mountain Village, Black Iron at The Madeline Hotel offers a cozy yet upscale après-ski experience. Known for its locally inspired cuisine, this restaurant serves elevated comfort food with a modern twist, perfect for refueling after a day on the slopes.
Must-Try: Feast family style dishes like 32 oz. Bison Tomahawk and 20 oz. Rocky Mountain Elk Loin.
Located near Tomboy Tavern is Crazy Elk Pizza, the best place for a quick slice of pizza in the Mountain Village. We were pleasantly surprised how good the Mountain Village special pizza was and went there twice for lunch!
Crazy Elk Pizza – Family-Friendly & Delicious
If you’re craving pizza, look no further than Crazy Elk Pizza. This laid-back pizzeria serves up hand-tossed, stone-baked pizzas that are perfect for families and groups. Perfect for grabbing a quick slice of pizza before heading back onto the slopes.
Must-Try: The Mountain Village special pizza and garlic knots.
Latin Creations – A Hidden Gem in Mountain Village
For a quick and flavorful bite, Latin Creations is a must-visit. Located in Mountain Village’s food stalls, this hidden gem offers authentic Latin flavors that are both satisfying and affordable.
Must-Try: Carne asada and birria tacos.
Why You Should Try the Food Stalls in Mountain Village
Located right outside of Telluride Station is a lone tacos, tortas and quesadillas food stall, very similar to the Latin Creations food stall in the Mountain Village. We didn’t get a chance to try it out but it smelled delicious!
