Due to the high volume of tourists visiting Lake Louise, the Fairmont Chateau has implemented several measures to maintain a peaceful, private atmosphere for its guests. One of the most exclusive aspects of staying here is that much of the hotel is reserved only for those staying at the property. Public restrooms are off-limits to non-guests, and several areas of the hotel can only be accessed by key card. This means you can enjoy the breathtaking views and luxurious surroundings without the hustle and bustle of day visitors—an added bonus when traveling with kids.
As Fairmont guests, we enjoyed priority access to canoe rentals, saving us from the long lines. It’s a great perk that lets you make the most of your time on the lake, especially during busy seasons.

Priority Canoeing: A Special Perk for Hotel Guests
One of the standout benefits of staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is the priority access to canoes. Canoeing on the pristine waters of Lake Louise is a must-do experience, but for day visitors, the wait times can be long and unpredictable. As hotel guests, we had the luxury of skipping the long lines and waiting no more than 10 minutes for a canoe. This perk not only saved us time but also made the experience much more enjoyable and stress-free, allowing us to maximize our time on the water. Gliding across the turquoise lake, surrounded by mountains, was one of the highlights of our trip—and having priority access made it even more magical.

One of the best parts of our stay at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise was how welcoming it was for families with kids. Upon arrival, our kids were thrilled to take part in a special kid’s check-in, which included signing their guestbook and choosing some toys from a treasure chest full of goodies—a fun start to their adventure!

The hotel offers a variety of kid-friendly activities, making it a fantastic choice for families and the staff was great with the kids. Our favorites included:

  • Outdoor Adventures: The Fairmont offers guided outdoor activities for kids that last up to three hours. This gave us some time to explore the hotel while the kids got to experience nature in an educational and fun way.
  • Crafty Kids: The hotel offers craft sessions, where kids can get creative and make souvenirs to remember their time at Lake Louise.
  • Bingo Nights: A fun and interactive way for the kids (and parents) to wind down in the evening.

And let’s not forget the little luxuries—our kids were excited to find child-sized bathrobes waiting for them in the room. It’s the small touches like this that make staying at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise such a special experience for families.

  • Walliser Stube: This European-inspired restaurant specializes in fondue and alpine cuisine—a cozy option after a day of outdoor adventures.
  • Alpine Social: Perfect for a laid-back meal, Alpine Social offers hearty, comforting dishes that the whole family will love.
  • In-Room Dining: After a long day exploring, we opted for in-room dining one night. The menu had great options for both adults and kids, making it a convenient and delicious way to end the day.

Staying at Fairmont’s Chateau Lake Louise may come with a higher price tag, but it’s worth every penny. The prime location makes exploring nearby attractions like Moraine Lake and Emerald Lake so much easier. Self-parking is convenient, service is exceptional, and the hotel’s family-friendly atmosphere includes plenty of kid activities. I loved the exclusivity, with only hotel guests allowed on the property, creating a peaceful retreat despite the busy surroundings. Whether for a family vacation or romantic getaway, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise offers the perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and unforgettable memories.
